Task 1

Analyse the use of sound in professional moving image products

Diegetic and Non diegetic sound

Diegetic - It can be heard by the audience and the actors on-set film world.

Non Diegetic sound - The actors cannot hear the music but the audience can. It is pre-recorded and added later.

dialogue and speech; A certain scene in a play, a book or film is where a conversation at least two people features.
script/unscripted: scripted dialogue has already been written by the book, play, film writers and is what the actors and actresses are anticipated to say in a scene. An unscripted scene's are generally improved and will find in a fight scene of where the directors gives the actors/actresses the right to say whatever they want within reason
Music- music is used in film which is generally to create emotion on its audience, or to create a particular mood in a scene. There are also many usses  such as creating a certain  score for a character. A good example of this would be superman as his score of quick associates his presence.
theme tune : this is similar to the earlier reference as it may not be specific characters. The Simpson has its own    theme tune which is widely known to anyone who has watched it. In 1960's the batman television series had its original theme tune to give an identity to the programme and to the characters.
Music beds; Music bed allows a voice over to be spoken over the top  without  interference  of any vocals. This is the reason why it is important to have  a couple of different cuts, so you can use each of the different version for different purposes, depending on the context which is taken and adapted from here.
pre-existing music - pre-existing music is something that has been created already been created either by a person or which is by a musical instrument. to use pre-existing music you would normally need permission to know that copyright issues can be avoided.
composed music - Composed music is generally made from a professional artists or composers who have an orchestra which is made especially designed for a particulate scene, characters, emotions, etc. Occasionally artists that features in films will make msuc for films from beginning, so this is a form of composed music.
sound affect - this is also similar to pre-recorded music in ways that the sound they use that already existed. A cartoon film would be an example for when they use the sound 'bang' for when someone is hitting each other or they tripped over.
wild track - A wild track would generally be left to a a foley artist in film. A foley artist make live sound affects recorded on a sound stage which is in synched with the pictures to replace any sound that needs to be replaced.
silence- Silence is where is not sound at all and it happens to create an emotion. THis is used in films of horror genre.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Explain action: this is known to a sound element, which is being used to clarify the visual screening on the frame, enables understanding when the visual are more abstract. This add extra level's of meaning  to a certain scene or character.

Reinforce emotion - When a certain sound in a film which can be shown to create emotion to their audience for example to increase tension, raise sympathy for a certain character.

Attract attention - Sound that attract attention to the audience so that it can help to guild them in a certain scene,

To set a period - To set a particular time of period of sound which are used to help this.

To  give a coherence between shots- giving coherence is generally used by sound. When at least two or more shots have been cut together but makes no sense  this is when the sound can be used to help create a link between the both and would create coherence and relevance.

To identify a programme - Sounds are used in programme to define what the programme is. For example theme tune, it recognise what the programme is for the audience as it associates the genre of the programme, characters and what happens. Also you can recognise the programme's such as news programme which has a clear difference with in the style of their opening time. This would create a connotes of seriousness and the theme of it as well.

The effect on a specific audience- Like horror genre films, they are good link to use when analysing the sound to have an certain affect.  Like For example a sound element of silence being followed by an loud explosive sound sound element which creates the audience jump with fear. The audience of the horror genre film like watching these films because they want to be scared and jump with fear. That's why Horror films makes sure they have these elements to create an emotion.

In the sound analysis below I will be exploring and explaining how these sound elements are being used in these different programmes and give a reasoning for these  results which I have mentioned above.

The echoing enhances their alines and reinforces the emotion of isolation. As the soldier starts to walk, an area of shots is used and you can hear loading of the guns. This explains that there is danger and the suited soldier needs to be protected.

The jet and helicopter sets a time of period of modern- day war as the technology wasn't awardable. The walkie talkie also does this. This gives a statistic affect.
